I came to Yobe Cosplay Shop Grand Opening Day on Sunday 29 April 2012 in Morley Western Australia. I cosplayed as 'Kyo Kusanagi' from King of Fighters, 'Yoshi' from Super Mario World, and last one is 'Sun Wukong' (known as Monkey King) from Journey to the West.

I cosplayed as Sun Wukong around 1:30pm. My dad assisted me in putting the crown of feathers above my head. I was then photographed with Alicia Ashley who cosplayed as 'Chun Li' from Street Fighter.

Monkey King cosplay on Chinese New Year 2012

A day after Wai-Con 2012, I wore Sun Wukong cosplay (Monkey King cosplay) and intervened the Lion Dance performance at a Chinese restaurant on South Street in O'Connor at 7:30pm. The name of restaurant is Welcome Noodle House.

I intervened their performance when the 2nd round of firecrackers were exploding. The lions responded quite friendly to me. The golden lion wanted to play with my Jin Gu Bang and I lent it by putting my Jin Gu Bang in his mouth. After they played it, the golden lion returned to me. All the lions bowed to respect me and I respected them too.

Monkey King cosplay (Sun Wukong cosplay) at Wai-Con 2012

This is me wearing Sun Wukong (known as Monkey King) cosplay. I attended Wai-Con 2012 Invasion at Perth Exhibition Center on 28 January 2012 in Perth Western Australia. Again this Monkey King cosplay is the king costume version with additional boa feathers on my body. I only cosplayed and walked around the showfloor but I did not join the cosplay competition.

I arrived around 11am at Perth Exhibition Center with my brother. We did not buy tickets online, the door ticket was little bit expensive but we did not need to join the very long queue to collect the ticket. After we purchased the ticket, we went back outside to grab the Monkey King costume. I wore the costume and the wig. My brother installed the phoenix crown on my head.

Wai-Con 2012 Competition disallowed Monkey King

Wai-Con 2012 Competition disallowed Monkey King

Wai-Con 2012 was an Anime convention has its own cosplay competition. It is solely promoted Japanese animes, mangas, and video games.
Unfortunately it disallowed Monkey King for entering the competition.
However the Monkey King cosplay was allowed to walk around the convention floor.

Wai-Con 2012 Cosplay Competition was another cosplay competition which rejected the Chinese origin character.
Wai-Con 2012 event started on 28 January 2012 and ended on 29 January 2012. This event was also a fun place to go to.

Monkey King was awarded The Best Cosplay Costume

Monkey King cosplay was awarded "The Best Cosplay Costume"
on 25 June 2011.

I was present wearing Monkey King cosplay at Madman Cosplay Competition in Perth Western Australia on 25 June 2011. After the competition finished everyone waited outside for the result. John Robertson with the official judges came out to present awards to winners.
All my friends went home during the wait.

I thought I would never won the competition. I silently whispered to God saying that I would still a happy man even if I lost this competition.

At around 6:20pm John Robertson announced that "The Best Cosplay award goes to the Monkey King". Thanks God I could smile almost in tears when everyone applauded at me during the award presentation.

Monkey King cosplay appeared on the stage

Monkey King cosplay appeared on the stage.
25 June 2011.
I stood on the stage as the last cosplayer at Madman Regular Cosplay competition at Supa Nova on Saturday 25 June 2011.

I played the skit-play based on the Chinese drama when the Monkey King was on the Buddha palm, wrote a sentence on one of Buddha fingers. I spent about 5 minutes doing the skit-play and another 5 minutes being interviewed by John Robertson (the MC).

This is my first ever being on a stage as a cosplayer, I was so nervous until I even haven't talked anything to John. I saw Kim Dao and I saw Eugene O'Sullivan. Fortunately someone recorded a video of me.

At the end before I left the stage, Eugene lifted up his camera and pointed at me. Before he pressed the shutter button, I gave him my best pose ever.
After that everyone went outside waiting for the competition results.
