Monkey King cosplay (Sun Wukong cosplay) at Wai-Con 2012 |
This is me wearing Sun Wukong (known as Monkey King) cosplay. I attended Wai-Con 2012 Invasion at Perth Exhibition Center on 28 January 2012 in Perth Western Australia. Again this Monkey King cosplay is the king costume version with additional boa feathers on my body. I only cosplayed and walked around the showfloor but I did not join the cosplay competition.

I arrived around 11am at Perth Exhibition Center with my brother. We did not buy tickets online, the door ticket was little bit expensive but we did not need to join the very long queue to collect the ticket. After we purchased the ticket, we went back outside to grab the Monkey King costume. I wore the costume and the wig. My brother installed the phoenix crown on my head.

When I entered the Wai-Con entrance as the Monkey King, many people (including the ones I met at Supa Nova last year) started to stop me to take photos with me. It was very fun to meet other cosplayers as well. A Wai-Con 2012 staff told me to put away my weapon at the main counter outside due to safety to other people, oh well I did it.

It was only 1 hour being the Monkey King before the Wai-Con 2012 cosplay competition started. I went in and sat inside the theater. I took off the crown and the wig inside but had difficulty where to put my wig on because the feathers were too tall and no empty seat around me.
When the competition finished, I dressed up as the Monkey King one more time and walked around to meet other cosplayers.

At 3pm, I finished cosplaying, left Perth Convention Center, and went to Utopia to drink a bubble tea before going home. It was 38 degrees Celcius on that day.
